I have had to do this to perform several tasks that would have run normally on XP. My understanding is that this is inherent on the Vista security model.

That was fixed by using the Run As Administrator when launching the cmd window used to run regsvr I donl;t know if this also applies to ocx's but it may be worth a try.

I would have thoughr that once it is registered it should no longer be a problem Also I cannot have my end users manualy registering controls. You may need to reinstall some applications to upgrade some files to a higher version, because they may be replaced during the installation of Windows.
